About FixMate

FixMate is a UK household repair guidance service and marketplace for independent repairers. We help people organise repair clues and compare next steps; we are not a repair company or insurer.

How repair estimates are made

FixMate’s AI assistant considers the appliance details and symptoms you provide, along with any relevant photo, video, or sound evidence. It returns an indicative UK total repair range and parts range; the displayed labour and call-out range is an approximate remainder, not an itemised price. Estimates are not a live parts-price lookup, confirmed diagnosis, or final quote.

What repairer checks mean

“Identity verified” and “Business details verified” are separate profile statuses marked by FixMate. “Insurance evidence provided” and “Qualifications provided” mean evidence was supplied; they do not confirm that insurance is current or adequate, or that a qualification is valid for a particular job. These statuses are not blanket vetting or a guarantee.

FixMate does not display a current Gas Safe, NICEIC, or NAPIT register-check status. For gas work, check the engineer’s current registration directly with the Gas Safe Register. For electrical work, check the relevant competent-person scheme or ask for the appropriate certificate.

When you pay and when the worker is paid

Once you and the worker agree the final price, pay through Stripe Checkout before work starts. The quote shows FixMate’s 15% fee and the worker’s 85% share. FixMate transfers the worker’s share to their Stripe balance after you confirm the repair is complete; bank arrival follows the worker’s Stripe payout schedule.

FixMate guidance is not a professional inspection or safety certification. Stop using an appliance if it seems unsafe and contact a qualified professional.
